Agricultural Farm Orehovec

PG Orehovec is family-owned business positioned in Croatia with primary activity in poultry producing and processing. Our business includes:

  • producing corn, soy and wheat
  • breeding poultry (ducks, chickens, geese)
  • slaughtering
  • processing meat
  • wholesaling meat.

Our farms are located in the northern part of Croatia in the rural area along the Drava/Drau river. Open space farm, surfacing roughly 100,000 square meters, is surrounded with dense forest, crystal clear river and separated lagoons, making the environment perfect for poultry.

Poultry diet is based on cereals and oilseeds, in addition to other micronutrients such as vitamins and minerals important for proper growth and development. Corn and soy are the most common in the composition of the mixture we feed our poultry, and we are producing them partly on our fields, and others are produced by other farmers from our region. We can state that more than 90% of the food we use in poultry diet is from local origin.

Moreover, we do not use GMOs (genetically modified organisms), therefore, poultry is not consuming the GMO mixture. Poultry raised outdoors is, along with the mixture, consuming grass, worms and other small organisms found on the ground. With this kind of production, we can say that all meat is of controlled origin and the ultimate product of top health and quality.

On our open space farm, we are producing free range poultry; chickens, ducks and geese, where they live in a natural landscape with plenty of space, they can roam freely or graze food which is natural for their nutrition. Ducks and geese production started in 2001 with capacity of 100,000 ducks and around 10,000 geese per year. In 2014, we have started developing production of free range chickens with the highest quality breeds designed for breeding on the open space farms. At the moment, capacity of the farm for free range chickens is 50,000 to 60,000 per year. Moreover, we have four farms for breeding corn-fed chickens with capacity of 500,000 per year.

Our slaughterhouse is positioned in the village within easy walking distance to farms. Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP) standard is implemented. Also, we have facilities for producing and processing pre-cooked meat.
